The original composition was in classical Thai language but was translated into modern Thai language by Prayoon Phinthong in 1939. The lyrics are in Thai and refer to the country’s history and heritage, while the music was adapted from the Phleng Chat (Thai: เพลงชาติ), the national anthem of Siam as it was when Thailand was a monarchy.
